Madrona Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Named after the Madrona Tree that is common to where we live, Gig Harbor, WA.

Gig Harbor is a small community with access to Puget Sound, many lakes, and everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

Our dogs are a blend of Hunting and Conformation lines to produce beautiful and functional dogs.

The Chesapeake is a multipurpose dog, capable of Obedience, Agility, Tracking, and Therapy in addition to there reputation as exceptional Hunting dogs.

Looks and drive make an exceptional Chessie, and an exceptional Family companion.

GCH Madrona's Early Morning Rain @ Delilah's Delight'

"Lilah" went with me to the American Chesapeake Clubs National Show Specialty in Salt Lake City, UT in September. She unfortunately didn't get a look at that show, but we were redeemed by going Best Opposite at the first All breed show after the NSS. Best Owner Handled with a NOHS Group 2! The second show she was Best Opposite again, Best Owner Handled and NOHS GROUP 1! The 3rd show she won a Select Bitch. Overall I am super happy with her. She earned 15 more Grand Champion points as is now over half way to GCH Bronze now. She earned about 25 GCH points at the Enumclaw Cluster going Select Bitch each day. She finished the Puyallup Show Cluster with 2 Best Of Breed wins and 1 Best of Opposite. She earned 12 Grand Champion Points and 20 Breed Points. She is really maturing nicely.

"Jase" had a very nice Enumclaw Cluster and earned his Bronze Grand Champion Title. He was Best of Breed 5 of the 10 shows and Best Opposite the other 5. He was awarded a Group 3 during the Sammamish KC shows.

"Mia" was entered in for the Rainier Sporting Dog Assoc. and Evergreen Chesapeake Bay Retriever Shows. She did well for a youngster and not showing for 6 months.

CH Madrona's Let's Dance JH, DM "Bowie" passed 2 more Junior Hunter Tests in May to complete is title going 4 for 4. He has tons of drive and enthusiasm, marks extrememly well and has an amazing water entry. He has his Dock Master title, jumping almost 23 feet, hence his huge water entry!

Please be extremely careful when buying a Chesapeake, there are breeders that are NOT doing health clearances.

Chesapeakes have several debilitating genetic conditions that can be tested for, ask to see the test results, do not take anyone's word for it. Ask for PRA, DM, EIC DNA test results at minimum! Just because it sounds good, doesn't mean it is legit. Ask to see AKC paperwork and OFA hips/ elbows/ eye results also. Be an educated buyer or you may regret it years down the road when your cute puppy comes down with an awful disease that could have been prevented!
